Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg briefed us to develop an innovative branch concept which would introduce a new form of retail banking to the German market.
Our first-of-its-kind mixed retail and service offer condensed banking services to just one third of the venue, making space for a coffee shop, bakery, Lotto, newsagent and a Tchibo concession; all paying rent on space that was previously under-utilised.
Menus in the coffee shop contain information about the bank; the newsstand stocks bank literature and other Sparkasse-branded merchandise next to the newspapers; and customers signing up for new banking services are incentivised with promotional vouchers for Tchibo products.
Transactions are carried out by automated machines allowing Kreissparkasse Ludwigsburg staff to focus on providing direct customer service at a number of ‘conversation islands’ where customers can use an interactive screen and receive consultation where needed.
